View from Poppenberg

Poppenberg is a little-known lookout point on the southern edge of the Fichtelgebirge at about 750 meters above sea level

From here you can take a lovely hike to the Platte.It is also worth taking a hike up from Lienlas to Poppenberg.
The view then becomes more and more breathtaking 😊For mountain bikers there is a wonderful sporty little road from Lienlas or Ahornberg up to Poppenberg. As it is a dead end, you don't see many cars. But by bike you can still take a forest path further into the Fichtel Mountains, for example via Königskron to Kreuzstein and to Fleckl.Surprisingly, the hiking trails (e.g. the Westweg and the Flötztalweg) do not lead past the great viewpoint. You probably want to avoid the tarmac road.

Update 2024
The road from Ahornberg to Poppenberg was recently completely renovated and is in excellent condition.
The view is still amazing up there and there are now 2 benches at the highest viewing point: a normal bench and the old sunken bench.
