The Friedrichshafen Observation Tower, also known as the Mole Tower, marks the entrance to the harbor of Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance. The tower was built by the city of Friedrichshafen as part of the renovation and redesign of the old harbor piers and was inaugurated on September 24, 2000.

The 22-meter-high observation tower on the harbor pier, built in 2000, offers a beautiful view of the city and the castle church, the orchards in the hinterland, and a magnificent panoramic view of Lake Constance and the Alps.

The observation tower, as a vertical urban element, and its horizontal counterpart – the roof at the pier head – represent one of the most important gateways to the city. The design of the observation tower directly references the classic architectural elements of the harbor station. Steel staircases lead visitors to two observation platforms with wonderful views of the city and lake. The last platform has a roof over the level below, thus protecting it from the weather. The platforms can accommodate a total of approximately 100 people.
