The 1994 by the then Prime Minister of the Free State of Thuringia, Dr. Bernhard Vogel, inaugurated Thuringian Wine Gate, stands at the beginning of the "Saale-Unstrut Wine Route", which leads via Bad Kösen, Naumburg, Freyburg and Laucha to Nebra.
It is located in the immediate vicinity of the "Louise" graduation house.
It is the first and so far only wine gate in the new federal states and stands for the importance of winegrowing in the region around Bad Sulza.
