The Reformed Chapel Staverden was built in 1875 to replace a wooden predecessor from 1866.
At the time, Jan Rudolf Kemper realized a church hall for the inhabitants of Staverden, Leuvenum and Speuld. This chapel has been renovated twice, but still has the sober nostalgic appearance of a simple, neo-Gothic hall church. The brick facades extend to the gable roof with slate cover.
Directly behind the church is the extended vestry with an organ in the attic. This extension dates from 1931 when estate owner Mr. F.B. s' Jacob the architects J.A. Brinkman and L.S. van der Vlucht ordered this for a fee of NLG 688.84. These architects also designed the Van Nelle factory in Rotterdam.
In addition to the extension, the architect duo also gave the church furnishings an impulse. At this stage they worked together with the Ermelo contractor Andreae. The most recent renovation of the chapel took place in 1991, creating extra space for sanitary facilities.
The chapel has a sober interior and still exudes the atmosphere of the 1930s. The walls have the authentic wood paneling and a printed barrel vault. Most of the elements and objects purchased in 1931 are still present. For example, the furniture supplied by the Nederlandsche Stoom-Houtzagerij De Voogt & Co from Wageningen for the amount of NLG 1,542.50. For this, the pews of the s' Jacob and Sandberg families were placed on either side and the rest of the pews at right angles to it. This company also provided the oak baptismal font table and a collection stick. The well-known manufacturer of tubular furniture Gispen supplied the chandelier and the wall fixtures, as well as the lectern on the pulpit.
