Barneführer Holz Nature Reserve

The Barneführer wood and Schreensmoor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxon communities Hatten, Wardenburg and Großenkneten in the district of Oldenburg. The name of the forest ("wood") indicates that it already existed at a time when the aristocratic family of the Bernefuer exercised lords and property rights in the Wardenburg area, which had been the case since the 14th century.
The nature reserve with the license plate NSG WE 240 is 251 hectares. It is almost completely part of the FFH area "Middle and Lower Hunte" (with Barneführer Holz and Schreensmoor).
