You can hardly see anything from the moated castle

There is not much left of the Wasserburg.

The Buchstall Buchstall is a late medieval moated castle of the type of a tower castle in Buchklingen, a present-day district of the market town of Emskirchen in the district of Neustadt at the Aisch-Bad Windsheim in Bavaria.

Michael von Seckendorff, from the line Rinhofen on Jochsberg, 1494 was entrusted with the castle mentioned in 1486. 1501, the castle was burned down because of ongoing raids and hostage-taking. Previous raids were the Seckendorffer against the Nuremberg "pepper sacks". A destruction of the castle in the course of the peasant war and a reconstruction can be assumed as probable. In 1569, the castle came to the family of Burgmilchling, who had their headquarters at Castle Hochmilchling in nearby Wilhermsdorf. As further owners 1579 Veit of Giech to Scheßlitz and 1582 the gentlemen of Oedenberg are called. Around 1600 extensive repairs were made to the castle. Afterwards, as further owners of the castle 1668 the counts of Hohenlohe and 1796 the barons of Wurster are called. Around 1820, the castle was demolished and used as a quarry. From 1981 to 1983, the bungy moat was cleaned and drained and the remaining masonry secured.

Today, the castle still shows a well-preserved wall, a vault to be seen from the former moat and two entrances to vaults.
