Hiking
From the 13th century a Freihof was mentioned here, which can be found in documents
referred to as "the stone house". The street designation Steinhausstrasse
still reminds of this building today.
This was demolished in 1897 and the Imperial Post Office in Leipzig
built a post office on the same spot.
It was completed a year later.
Exactly 100 years later, Deutsche Post closed it
branch and in 2003 the city library opened here after extensive construction work.
