From 1946, a transit camp for displaced persons and refugees from south-east and east Germany, especially the Sudetenland, was set up on the site. Only a few of the transports assigned to the Leonberg district by the government could be forwarded. Most stayed here, filling the Malmsheim transit camp, because initially only families had to be accommodated by the municipalities in the district.
