The expansion of the B27 south of Tübingen into a four-lane highway has been one of the most important road construction projects in the state of Baden-Württemberg for decades, as it is a two-lane bottleneck between Dußlingen and Bodelshausen. The first section was completed in 2014 with the tunnel through Dußlingen and the further expansion to approximately the level of the village of Nehren. As part of this project, it was necessary to create a crossing point for pedestrians and cyclists over the busy road in this predominantly rural area.
