Livestock farming with cows, pigs and goats served the peasant. Population for self-sufficiency with milk and meat. The cows were also used as draft cattle in the fields. The cattle were the entire wealth of a family, all the more decisive was the loss of an animal whose meat could no longer be used. Here the flayer or "Schinner" appeared, whose job it was to bury the dead animal. Because of the risk of epidemics, this was only allowed outside of the places in the "Schinnkaul". Until the beginning of the 50th years of the 20th century, the "Schinnkaul" of the community of Mittelstrimmig was here. The social standing and the reputation of the "Schinner" were not the best. The Hunsrück robber captain "Schinderhannes" came from a family of robbers. It is interesting that the film adaptation of Schinderhannes with Maria Schell and Kurt Jürgens was partly shot in the vicinity in 1958.
