Listed as a cultural asset of national interest, the Greenhouse is the work of Josep Amargós i Samaranch and was built for the 1888 Universal Exhibition, although it was designed by the architect Josep Fontserè i Mestre as part of a museum and scientific program in the Ciutadella Park also formed by the Umbracle and the Martorell Museum.
In July 2022, the necessary rehabilitation work was carried out on the pavement, enclosures, roof, facades, etc. of the building, thus leaving it ready for future use as a greenhouse. The building was also equipped with a monitored ventilation system and humidifiers.

The Hivernacle is a beautiful modernista building designed by Josep Amargós i Samaranch between 1883 and 1887. This iron structure with glass sides was originally intended to grow tropical plants, but it was used as a reception and lecture hall during the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exhibition.
