The Kuhlenvenn and Fürstenkuhle are remnants of what was once the largest moors in Westphalia. The White Venn. The Kuhlenvenn was indeed deprived of its entire peat layer, but nevertheless it is a valuable nature reserve. Greylag geese are found here in large numbers. Not infrequently, around 1,000 birds gather on the autumn migration! Even Siberian long-tailed geese, tundra seed and white-cheeked geese mix with the crowd.
Both the Kuhlenvenn and the Fürstenkuhle are circled by circular trails. The path on the Kuhlenvenn is mostly paved and is also suitable for wheelchair and cyclists.
