Away from the main path, some small loops lead over soft, swinging ground through bog and heathland. Two observation towers provide an insight into the vast moorland.
The entrance is free, at the small station of the Moorbahn there is a cafe, which indulges with home-baked cake.

Great observation opportunity for incoming and outgoing cranes, especially in October and November!

Here are a small and a large observation tower, from where the whole bog can be overlooked. During the time of the crane, it is packed and unfortunately anything but quiet.

Two lookout towers facing east are also accessible by wheelchair, the south facing is much higher, the windows are individually covered with truck tarpaulin, so it does not pull as much, as long as you do not open all the windows.
Views to the east, south and west possible, in good weather many people. From here you can see a lot of waterfowl in the winter, in the twilight cranes that seem to spend the night here. At least one white-tailed eagle is also to be observed.

Watching the bird is worth it to arrive very early before sunrise, then not so much going on.

Especially in October, when the cranes stop here, a tranquil experience.
In all ways the plants and animals are described. During the ride on the moor track you will also learn how the moor is created and the time it takes to become a real moor again.

The view is great, if you have binoculars and you can watch the birds, the lookout tower is a great place to take a break and relax a little birdie. I would not go there during the bird migration season. Then it is packed.

Here it can be clearly illustrated for young and old how wide the wings of the birds are to their own outstretched arms.

From high above a great view of the moor is possible. It is advisable to choose an unusual time of day, because at dusk in autumn, when the cranes return to their sleeping place, the place is very crowded.

From the observation tower one has a wide overview of the rewetted areas of the peat extraction area. Definitely think of a pair of binoculars, otherwise you can not see much on the huge water surfaces.
How big this bog was before the peat extraction, can be easily guessed.

The six and a half meter high bird observation tower is an experience. With a little patience, you can capture impressive natural scenes here.

At the end of the hiking trail through the moor there are 2 very beautiful lookout towers. From here you have a good view over the moor. With a little luck you can also watch cranes passing by and resting in the moor.

Tister peasant moorOne of the most attractive observation opportunities for cranes in Lower Saxony is the Tister Bauernmoor. Here, the Rotenburg district, under the leadership of the nature conservation authority, has set up a unique observation tower with well thought-out visitor management. From the tower you can watch the evening crane flight at migration time. On good days you can see thousands of the impressive birds flying in from all directions and looking for their sleeping places in the shallow water areas. In the meantime, a second tower was built that is even handicapped accessible. The district also designed the way to the tower to be an adventure zone that is well worth seeing and is well worth a visit.

Tilster Bauernmoor: huge bodies of water, but also small ponds.
A visit is not only worthwhile in autumn, when the cranes stop here.

Tister farm moor and crane watching; a great thing.
Be sure to pay attention to the times. Avoid weekends in October / November.
For crane observation: in the morning from 7:00 a.m.
