One of the most impressive war memorials in Northern Germany is located here in Wildeshausen on the Burgberg. The temple-like memorial for the victims of both world wars is located on the hill of the former castle, which was demolished in 1789.
An impressive staircase leads us to the square pillar building with beveled corner pylons and an entablature with stair frieze and commemorative inscriptions. In the middle is a house-like construction with numerous commemorative plaques.
Heinrich Biebel was the architect whose work, reminiscent of Roman and Greek buildings, was inaugurated in 1924.
Raised on a high hill, the monumental building watches over the park in front of it and the Hunte.
