The approximately one meter high circular burial mounds date from around 900 to 200 BC. Chr. (Late Bronze and Iron Age). Here the dead of the surrounding area were burned and the urns buried with ashes in the mounds. The hills have a diameter of 6 to 12 meters. Individual excavations have shown that usually the burial mounds each have a urn grave burial; in some hills several burials could be detected.
In the northern part of the burial ground you will find some plate-shaped hills of about 1.20 meters in height, with diameters of about 30 meters, which is why they are also called royal hill.

The burial ground is part of the "Street of Megalithic Culture".

A beautiful testimony of prehistoric activity at the gates of Wildeshausen, a side trip worthwhile. In addition, the heath is very nice, if it is not to markaber a rd. 4,000-year-old cemetery to visit.
