The small town of Swisttal-Buschhoven, not far from Bonn (Archdiocese of Cologne), is a Marian pilgrimage site with a long tradition that goes back more than 830 years. In the pilgrimage church, the Mother of God is worshiped as "Rosa Mystica" (mysterious rose). The "Rose Festival" is celebrated in Buschhoven on the Sunday before the day of remembrance for John the Baptist (June 24).

The text displayed by the system below as "Description" refers to another church "Evangelical Reconciliation Church", not to the church specified here. After the construction of the new pilgrimage church in honor of the "Rosa Mystica" (this highlight here), the previous Catholic church was taken over by the Protestant church (komoot.de/highlight/3881860).

The following legend surrounds the Rosa Mystica:
The year was 1190: Knight Wilhelm I - called Schilling -, Lord of Bornheim, rode out hunting. The barking of the dogs lured Schilling to a flowering rose bush. In it he saw the image of the Mother of God, standing between two burning candles and a bell next to it. For Schilling, this was an encouragement from God to take the image with him to Bornheim, where he placed it on the altar of his castle chapel. The next morning, the image had disappeared. Knight Schilling found it again at the place of the apparition. For him, this was a sign to build a chapel here - in honor of the Mother of God.
