The Pieve de’ Saddi is the center of the first Christianization of the High Tiber Valley and the religious center of the entire mountain region for centuries.
During the persecution under Diocletian, a Roman soldier - Crescentino - was beheaded and buried here. The Pieve de' Saddi church was built in the 5th century on the site of a former Roman temple to house the martyr's remains. Inside the church, divided into three naves, there is an 8th-century relief depicting the saint killing a dragon that had terrorized the inhabitants of Città di Castello.

Pieve dei Saddi is a magical place that deserves a stop. It is a very ancient place of Christian worship. Today it is a stopping point, home to a hostel run by people of exquisite hospitality. A glass of water and a coffee is not denied. Then if you want you can buy beer, cakes, sandwiches and what is needed for the pilgrim
