Waldo Dörsch's main work for Suhl is undoubtedly the Diana fountain with its impressive bronze sculpture group. As a popular place to linger and meet, it is not only located in the center of the city, but its theme - an allusion to hunting - also offers something symbolic for the city. However, its creation was anything but smooth, not only because of numerous urban planning and cultural policy discrepancies. The artist had to endure this bumpy process for the most part. So he must have been happy when, on the eve of May 1, 1984, his fountain was finally handed over to its future purpose with a ceremonial inauguration, years late.Source:

Since then, the "wild ride" on which Waldo Dörsch sent Diana hunting with bow and arrow has lost none of its artistic strength and expansive power. By interpreting the ancient goddess of the hunt very freely in her form and characteristics - a horse, for example, is not one of her classic attributes - Waldo Dörsch also avoided an overly one-sided view of the subject of hunting. In keeping with his lifelong artistic credo, he instead opened doors for a broad thought experiment about tradition, craftsmanship, passion, nature... and thus also a piece of urban identity.Source:
