The Ohratalsperre was built between 1960 and 1966 and today supplies over 400,000 residents with drinking water and generates 400 KW of electricity through hydropower.
There is a circular hiking trail around the dam and two foredams.
Places worth seeing around the dam are the Kulissenfelsen, the Gerastollen and many great views of the dam.
