Gammelstad Church Town

"The church town of Gammelstad was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on December 7, 1996. It is a well-preserved example of traditional northern Scandinavian church towns. Gammelstad's church town, with 408 houses, is the largest of Sweden's 16 church towns still in existence .The region was an important hub for trade and markets as early as the 14th century.
