    Chanoua ruins, Ardez
Only the ruins of a stately building are left of the Chanoua faction, which is mentioned in the old municipal statutes as a small group of houses around a chapel. These are probably the remains of the old Sust, which was once the most important building in the faction. For the first time in the 9th century a “fiscal tabern” was mentioned here near Ardez on the then “Via imperiala” Como - Tyrol connecting road. The building served both as a hostel and as a transshipment point for all kinds of transport goods. Presumably the house was rebuilt after it was destroyed by fire on March 24th, 1742. Later, the economy in Chanous is mentioned again by the chronicler Martin Padrotsch, when on September 21, 1773 a large number of market visitors gathered there for lunch at the cattle market in Ardez.
The census of 1850 only mentions one farm in Chanoua that was inhabited by the Marugg family of five. Apparently the other buildings had already fallen into disrepair or were no longer habitable. The residential wing was temporarily inhabited until 1910.

In the middle of nature there is a relic of times long past. In the 9th century these buildings housed an inn and a transshipment point for all kinds of goods. Today only one house of the former ensemble is visible. They used to stand around a chapel.

Ruins of the passerby house and post office building Chanoua on the old traffic route to Ftan. It was first mentioned in the 9th century in the Carolingian Urbar as a fiscal tavern near "Ardezis" on the then connecting road Via imperiala Como - Tyrol.
