The Fürstenzug in Dresden is a larger than life picture of a cavalcade, applied to around 23,000 tiles from Meissen porcelain. The dimensions of each tile are 20.5 cm × 20.5 cm. The 102-meter long piece of art, considered to be the largest porcelain painting in the world, represents the ancestral gallery of the 34 margraves, dukes, electors and kings from the family of Wettin, ruling between 1127 and 1873 in Saxony.

The Fürstenzug is located in Augustusstraße, not far from the Frauenkirche, between Georgentor on one side and the Johanneum on the other side. Here it was installed in its present form in 1907 on the outside of the stable yard of the Dresden Residenzschloss.

A total of 94 people are shown. There are 34 margraves, dukes, electors and kings of Saxony to see King Albert. Behind King Albert, his brother Georg, at that time still a prince, was taken into the train without any presumption of government. There are also 59 scientists, artists, artisans, soldiers, children and farmers, forty-five horses and two greyhounds.
From left to right, the 35 crests of the following dominions and offices are shown. They run in a band under the figures.

One of my favorites in Dresden. On the street you will find some street artists and you can watch this impressive work of art by the way.

Somehow a bit hidden in an alley - but this huge mosaic should be looked at!
