The Catholic Court Church is located in the heart of the Old Town, close to the grand staircase. Brühl's Terrace, the Royal Palace, and the Semper Opera House are within walking distance.
The Court Church was commissioned by Augustus the Strong (1670–1733).
The church was consecrated in 1751. Its construction was generally very expensive, partly due to the long construction period and partly due to the lavish decorations
that were installed in the church. The construction of the Catholic Court Church cost
three times as much as the Frauenkirche.
The 74 3.5-meter-high statues of saints on the roof of the Court Church are particularly impressive. The statues, as well as the four figures on the tower, were created by the Italian sculptor Lorenzo Mattielli (1688–1748). World-famous concerts conducted by Carl Maria von Weber and Richard Wagner have already taken place in the Court Church.
The Court Church fell victim to bombing during World War II. As a result, the church burned down completely. Reconstruction began in 1946.
The shell was completed in 1955. Seven years later,
the central nave was reused. Since the organ had been stored away during
World War II, it was saved.
Today, it is the last of Dresden's three Silbermann organs. The organ has 3,000 pipes. It originates from the house of the famous organ builder Gottfried Silbermann
in Frauenstein. It is played during the church service during the organ prelude
on Wednesdays and Saturdays between 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m.
The high altar is located in the southwest and is made of local marble.
Under the choir is a crypt containing the graves of 49 Catholic electors and kings. The urn containing the heart of
Augustus the Strong also rests here.

The Hofkirche is now the cathedral of the Diocese of Dresden-Meissen. It is called the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity and is part of the Zwinger, the complex castle complex.
The Hofkirche is one of the last masterpieces of the Italian Baroque and is
Dresden's most significant church building in terms of art history. With its 86-meter-high towers, it is one of the tallest buildings in Dresden. When visiting Dresden, it is
one of the highlights of a walking tour.
