Turton and Entwistle Reservoir is a lovely place for a peaceful stroll in the West Pennine Moors. It is most notable for the Entwistle Dam, which was the highest in Britain when it was constructed in 1832, rising 108 feet (33 m) from its base. A full circuit of the lake is a great way to spend an hour. Afterwards, the Strawberry Duck pub is a popular option with walkers and serves good, hearty food.
