The St. Georgenhospital "was founded in the 13th century for the stay of the lepers.
Saint George, to whom the building is dedicated, was the patron saint of the warriors and crusaders.
The Georgenkapelle was later grown.
At the time of the Reformation, the hospital went to the city of Grimma. Now it was until the 19th century accommodation for the poor, orphans and widows. Thereafter, the buildings were used for agriculture and built in the 1970s apartments.
The chapel was to be demolished, but this prevented the then monument conservator Mrs. Renate Sturm-Franke.
Since 2010, the historic building has undergone a double use as a church and exhibition space.
The operation and the structural repair are exclusively privately financed.
No funds were used except for the renovation of the roof.
