The cathedral sits majestically on the highest point of the Ratzeburg peninsula. The three-aisled brick basilica from 1160 is one of the oldest churches in Schleswig-Holstein. It is also the heart of the historical ensemble of monuments on the peninsula, which includes a manor house, the district museum, the cathedral barracks and the Palmberg as a garden monument. The ensemble draws 100,000 visitors to the island city every year.

The campsite on which this picture was taken, was driven by us several times with the caravan. Great bathing place with incomparable view. From here are very nice bike rides around the lake and of course the cathedral island possible.

The campsite Schwalkenberg is outstanding in beautiful nature directly between the Great Ratzeburg Lake and the Domsee. From here you have fantastic views of the lakes and the Ratzeburg Cathedral.
