In the tower, built in 1484, the permanent exhibition "ARELAPE - the Roman Pöchlarn" is shown with the latest excavation finds. The Welserturm was built in 1484 as a defense tower. In the course of its 500-year history, the tower has served various purposes: as the bailiff's residence, as a storage room, as a prison, as a gasometer for acetylene lighting, and even as a command post in the last days of World War II. Today it houses the Roman Museum. All finds come from Arelape, the former fort on the Danube Limes. In the late medieval Welserturm, the permanent exhibition "Arelape - the Roman Pöchlarn", designed together with the Federal Monuments Office, with old and the latest excavation finds (inner city project) can be seen on two levels.
