Several years ago, no one believed that the dangerous, water-filled post-mine excavation, the so-called The gravel pit in Kaniów will turn into a recreational area attracting local residents.

On the wastelands, after gravel extraction, thanks to the involvement of local authorities and the inhabitants of Kaniów, a modern recreation and water sports center was established co-financed by the European Union.

Approximately 17.61 ha of land with 2 water reservoirs was revitalized.

The swimming pool is paid and guarded, and in its vicinity there are toilets with showers, a beach volleyball court, a playground for children and swimming pools with suspended bottoms, water equipment rental, catering and sanitary facilities and a large parking lot for cars.

The Kaniów gravel pit has always been popular among fans of cooling down on hot days.

After the renovation of this place, the gravel pit attracts a large number of people willing to spend time outdoors. Undoubtedly, it is one of the most important attractions in the Bestwina commune.

A new playground has been prepared for the youngest. What characterizes this bathing beach is relatively warm water.
