14.10.2017 - The marble quarry Engelsberg in the Fischauer Voralpen served as supplier for buildings in Lower Austria and Vienna until the 19th century. Also classified as power place. Offers a wonderful view over the Hohe Wand area and if the mountain would not stand in the way even the Neusiedlersee.
More than just nice to look at - somehow the air is gone. In the marble quarry you stand in front of a steeply rising stone wall, powerfully out the wall from the mountain.
Some artworks are also here to be admired. On my first visit, I was alone in the quarry - you could feel all the power of the stone of nature with tranquility. 😊👍

Whenever I'm here or see the pictures, the place touches me.

The Marble Quarry is a young power place which was accidentally created by dismantling the stone. The energies are here tw. very intense, similar to a blood stream from an open leg wound, the force shoots out of the mountain. Through the marble blocks and works of art lying around and the wonderful view, in combination with the natural energy of the place, a very mystical, strong place results.
The marble quarry Engelsberg was first mentioned in 1698, where it was leased by a stonemason from Neustadt (Paul Kimpfinger) from the rule of the Starhemberg ruins.
1860-1901 was mined here very intensively (and partly also very aggressively). Few know that the quarry itself does not belong to Winzendorf, but to the community Muthmannsdorf. Although this does not matter now by the merger of the two communities, but it is also interesting that the Muthmannsdorfer once acquired the quarry site for two loafs from the wine villages.

It's a bit steeper uphill at first, but it's worth the effort! The panorama is great, the further way is no longer too strenuous.
The marble quarry is impressive.
I also really liked the sculptures and blocks of marble at the foot of the quarry.
The descent requires sure-footedness (because of loose stones).
A highly recommended tour!
