Already in 1883, the inhabitants planted an oak tree in the historical place, the Luthereiche. It has become a landmark of the place and today still welcomes the stranger approaching from the B6 ago the place. With the planting of the peace oak 1895 and the Schillerlinde 1905 further eyewitnesses shape the small town. On the occasion of the German unification 1990 the Malkwitzer continued the old tradition with the planting of a union oak.
