The building, now known as the Dragon House, was originally built in 1829 as an economic building for the 700m distant Villa Weisshaus. Here were employees, supplies, plants and machines for landscape care housed.

The eponymous copper fire-breathing dragons were originally not part of the house and were mounted here around 1870, eight years after the death of the builder, the former Lord Mayor of Trier - Wilhelm von Haw.
In 1863, the governor of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Prince Henry of the Netherlands, bought the estate and the gardens. The dragons were once gargoyles on a house in the Trier Simeonstraße and were placed here as an additional decoration on the corners of the building, but without exercising their original function.

Prince Heinrich transformed the building into a residential building for his forester. Even today, the urban forest administration and some rental apartments are housed in the building complex.
