De Dijker
The mid-1990s were turbulent times for the residents of the dike area. In 1993 there was already a very high water level, two years later the entire area was even evacuated for fear of a dike breach. The dyke reinforcement was completed in 1997 with the reinforcement and construction of new dykes. This concrete work of art by the Heerewaardense artist Joris Baudoin is called De Dijker and symbolizes all moving, joint efforts to make the Bommelerwaard safer.
