The "Storchenland" in the NSG stream system of the Wienbach

In the heath just outside the town of Dorsten in the northern Ruhr area, a low-lying wetland with streams, ditches and ponds invites you to observe a diverse range of wildlife. Several viewing platforms and a small viewing tower offer good views of white storks, heck cattle and many special and rare birds. The area known as Hervester Bruch is part of the large nature reserve around the Wienbach, which flows from Wulfen near Dorsten into the Hammbach and shortly thereafter into the Lippe.

The well-known eastern part of the nature reserve with the observation stations around the Hervester Bruch is marked on the overview map. The suggested yellow route passes these stations and numerous information boards. It is also the only way to explore the area.

Storks can be found here between February and July. Numerous display boards provide information about other animal species that can be observed here. There is a lookout point and a picnic area.
