Since the end of the Middle Ages, up to 7,000 Hungarian oxen for slaughter, driven by Hajduken, have carried themselves on their own two feet on an ancient path towards Augsburg, where they were served as a fine feast for imperial city citizens and guests of the Reichstag. The Ochsentrift ended with the great time of Augsburg around 1800. The original route still exists. And today it serves as a "culture trail" for cyclists during the tourist revitalization of the Old Bavarian Oxenweg as part of a Bavarian oxen culture with special specialties.
