This shrine is an exception, as you can visit (for a fee) the treasury, which is unusual. In my opinion, it is not worth the 5 € more to pay.

The island owes its fame and its name to the centuries-old "Itsukushima Shrine" on "Miyajima".Actually the island is called "Itsukushima", but is popularly known as "Miyajima", literally "shrine island", thanks to its main attraction. The shrine is known worldwide for its legendary "floating Torii."
