Hiking

This is the last tower of the city fortifications that has been preserved. The name Säuturm comes from a small secondary gate that was used to allow the pigs kept in the city to pass through to the surrounding meadows. The official name is (e) Schneiderturm, as the tailors' guild was responsible for this area of the city wall.

The Säuturm is the last remaining tower of Wetzlar's medieval city fortifications (also known as the Schneiderturm because it was maintained by the tailors' guild). The top floor of the tower and the tower helmet were only added in 1912.
