Hiking Highlight
Beautiful summit cross with a breathtaking view of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Wetterstein mountains. The last meters to the summit cross are quite steep and slippery when wet. The ascent is worthwhile via the Kramersteig, the descent via the Stepbergalm. You can strengthen yourself there.

Very cool tour, great views!
In colder seasons, snow is to be expected above the Steppalm, which makes the tour considerably more difficult and can be dangerous.

Unforgettable view of Garmisch, Wetterstein Mountains and the landscape around it

The ascent via St. Martin and descent via the Stepbergalm becomes a great round trip on the Kramer. Again and again great views of the Zugspitze massif. Demanding path due to the 1200 m ascent and descent. Sturdy shoes and surefootedness are essential. Bergheil!

The summit can be reached either from the east via St. Martin (1028 m) or from the west via the Stepbergalm (1583 m). The route via the latter is a bit easier, so crossing from St. Martin to the Stepbergalm is an option.
Magnificent view of the valley and its surroundings.

Nice summit cross. Unfortunately there is always a lot of traffic. Ascent via St. Martin and Grasberg, for me personally, the nicer way. Then descent via Stepbergalm back to Garmisch.

Great view of the Zugspitze and the (still frozen) Eibsee. In winter, the ascent from the north (from the direction of Katzenkopf) is much more difficult than from the west. In particular, the rocks on the 1900m line are not nice when frozen over.

Crossing the Kramerspitz (1985m) is a real classic in the Ammergau Alps.
It takes about 6 hours and you overcome about 1200hm.
There are 2 huts on the way and the difficulty is max T3+.

Fantastic view down to Garmisch-Partenkirchen and across to Alpspitze and Zugspitze. Unfortunately in good weather in the backlight.
In the east Wank, Estergebirge and the Karwendel, in the north and west the Ammergau Alps.
