I have never seen such a beautiful and lovingly furnished refuge before. It is really "cozy" inside, even a guest book is on display. Many thanks to the "hut landlords" Rita and Werner Schwarz from Nonnenbach, who have been together for more than 30 years
take care of the maintenance of the hut.
There is a small cross in the immediate vicinity of the hut. In the winter of 1904, a girl who got lost in the ice and snow in the forest and was not found in time did not freeze to death here. In memory of this tragic accident, a cross was erected here, which the forest workers have repeatedly renewed - to this day.

The Blankenheimer Brotpfad is a path that was used for a long time by the villagers south of Blankenheim to bring bread to Blankenheim and sell it there (or to pay taxes and duties to the count's treasurer). The route leads us from Blankenheim to Ripsdorf in the south. The Eifelsteig leads exactly over this Blankenheim bread path on its way to the Mirbach Erlöserkirche.
