The station was located on railway line 61, which connected the former railway triangle on railway line 25 between Mortsel-Oude-God and Kontich-Kazerne with Aalst.
The line was 49.3 km long and was completed in 1879. A telegraph office was set up in the station itself in 1909.
The railway line remained in service on this section until 1976. After its closure, the station was converted into Café 't Stationneke.
Between Aalst and Londerzeel, the former railway line is now a cycle and walking path, called Leirekensroute, officially since 1994.
Although the station is not protected as a monument, it has been on the Inventory of Architectural Heritage since 2009.
