Cairn Mon Earn Summit

If you’re looking for an easy summit with a wonderful view, Cairn Mon Earn is a great hill to explore. It lies in Durris Forest between the Grampian Mountains and Aberdeen and within easy reach of Stonehaven and Banchory. The summit sits at 1,240 feet (378 m) although it’s not a particularly inspiring top due to the radio masts and associated buildings on its summit. The views however, are still excellent.

There are numerous car parks dotted around the perimeter of the hill, so you can easily start from anywhere. The entire hill, aside from the open summit, is cloaked in evergreen woodland, making this a particularly good walk even for days when the weather is inclement. The surrounding area is packed with quiet lanes and pockets of woodland so you can add Cairn Mon Earn’s summit into as long or as short an adventure as you like.
