There are also some beach access points in Sønderstrand in the south of the island.

The up to 4 km wide Sønderstrand is a playground for children and adults. Beach sailing with three-wheeled wind-powered vehicles is allowed on the beach. On Rømø, both kite buggies and normal beach sailors have their own area. The northern part of Sønderstrand is intended for kite buggies that are steered with the feet while the arms hold the kite that moves the vehicle. The southern part of Sønderstrand is for the normal beach sailors, blokarts, who have a sail and rudder and are relatively easy to drive.

Rømø - as one of the few places in Denmark - gives you the opportunity to bring your equipment directly to the shore. There is also plenty of space for spectators or those who just want to swim, sunbathe or go for a walk on the Banan Klit, a dune shaped like a banana. The Banan Klit is located in the very south of Sønderstrand.

As with Lakolk, you can drive all the way to the sea, but keep in mind that the area is often flooded at high tide.
