go inside, great interior and: The University of Debrecen (Hungarian Debreceni Egyetem) is one of the most famous universities in Hungary. In 1927, the university started its language courses, which are still famous across the borders of Hungary, in its specially founded summer university. At that time, it was the only institution of its kind that enabled foreigners and foreigners to learn the Hungarian language.

The roots of the university go back to the 16th century, when in 1538 the Calvinist college (Debreceni Református Kollégium) was founded in Debrecen. Already in 1567, the college began with the training of pastors and teachers. For centuries the College has been an important center for the research and teaching of the Hungarian language and culture.

From 1588 all graduates of the college are already known by name.

The construction of the university, begun in 1914, was solemnly inaugurated on 23 October 1918 by King Charles IV.
