The Eger should unfold its true ecological potential again in the coming years near Hohenberg. The water management office has therefore started with conversions. Here the water lies flat in the bed of the Mühlkanal - and therefore fish cannot find their way upstream. Therefore, the Eger should soon form a new loop near Hohenberg and the water will then dig its own way. Old fortifications are being removed along the banks and new trees are being planted, giving the watercourse more shade – which certain species of fish need.
