Ars Natura artwork “Untitled” by Daniela Schönemann (Halle): The two wooden figures stand side by side, looking serious. The work raises questions through its contradictions: On the one hand, it shows friendly affection towards the animals, as both people hold them in their arms or in their hands; on the other hand, gestures and facial expressions also express a certain indifference. Despite their “cuddly size,” the fox-like dogs seem more wild and dangerous than gentle.
The artist herself says about her work: “At the center of my question is the individual – thrown back on himself, but also as a political and socially active being. Starting points are states of non-functioning, which are accompanied by blockage and refusal, as well as the search for options for action and position. This goes hand in hand with the question of role models and identities.”
