Best Hikes to Hirschhörner signpost

Tips

  • A highlight that has become a signpost with seating right on the street.
The Hirschhörner was set up around 1900 by hiking clubs to open up the Spessart for tourism. At that time, however, still without the horns that later gave the signpost its name.

On the opposite side of the street there is a memorial stone with its own story:
At this point in 1796, the Kurmainzische Oberforster Heinrich Sternheimer from Heigenbrücken and his loyal helper Jakob shot four Frenchmen and an officer who had plundered the whole village with their department and chased away their prey on the march to Aschaffenburg.
