Lelm is a district of the city Königslutter am Elm. The millennial Lelm lies on the edge of the Elm ridge in the district of Helmstedt.
The first written mention of the place was 983. Worth seeing today, especially the millennial, originally Romanesque, later several times modernized church and the Thin Main Archive with mementos of the earliest Brunswick archaeologist Johann Christian Dünnhaupt (1716-1786). From 1763 to 1786 he worked as a pastor in Lelm, where he discovered the barrow field Ole Hai, where he made Braunschweig's first urn finds and published a book about it. Even a street is named after him. The urns excavated by him are today largely in the Museum of Wolfenbüttel and in Helmstedt. At present, excavations are continuing on his tracks.
