The place in this sculpture is also named Bertha Klingberg Platz and honors a Schwerin original.

Bertha Klingberg was born in Hamburg, but grew up with her grandparents in Bützow, in present-day Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. At an early age, she discovered her love of nature. At the age of 14, she began a flower tying apprenticeship in Rostock. The death of her husband in the First World War brought Bertha Klingberg and her son to Schwerin. After the war she earned her living as a flower woman on the butcher market in Schwerin. She always wore a traditional Rehna costume, which contributed to her status as a true "original". Of the Schwerin she was lovingly called only the "flower woman". In 1990 she collected, meanwhile at the age of 91 years, in Schwerin 17,000 signatures for the appointment of her beloved city to the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Because of this achievement she received in 1993 as the first and so far only the honorary ring of the state capital Schwerin. In 2002 she was appointed honorary citizen of Schwerin by the city council. On November 7, 2005 Bertha Klingberg died in a nursing home in Schwerin at the age of 107 years.

The "flower woman" sitting on a bench is reminiscent of the honorary citizen of Schwerin, Bertha Klingberg. On the promenade, many benches can be used for a break.
