High on a rock above the Thaya overlooking a loop of the river, a shelter with a table and benches has stood since 1928. Opposite are the remains of the medieval settlement and castle complex “Sand”.

According to tradition, the legendary robber Johann Georg Grasl also regularly rested here after his burglaries.

Hiking

If you don't take the path over the Plapperthütte, but instead walk below it directly along the banks of the Thaya, you will always find hidden idyllic resting places in rock niches. Quiet and secluded, really nice for observing nature in complete silence.
