Dogs are not allowed on the beach, and the dog beach next to the beach was closed a few years ago, after too many dogs on the lake caused trouble.

Beautiful natural beach Barmener See on the Rur between Jülich and Linnich. It is ideal for a short circular hike (about 5 km) or as a start or stop for a longer hike. About 100-150 m from the beach (outskirts of Barmen) there is a parking lot and a possibility to take a break

Bad to go at the moment, the Rur is flooding !! You cannot bypass the lake entirely, only by detours.

The water of the lake is fed from the Rur and is partly very clear due to the light gravel bottom
