    During the GDR era, tobacco that was grown in the area was processed here. Now a ruin.

    From Wikipedia;

    In 1847 a raw sugar factory with a refinery was founded in Glauzig. In April 1872 the sugar factory was converted into a stock corporation with a capital of 4,500,000 marks. The sugar factory also took over 2,367 acres of arable land, consisting of the manors Glauzig, Piethen and Klein-Weißandt, the Arensdorf factory and the fields in Görzig. Furthermore, lease agreements were made with the domains Gnetsch, Fernsdorf and Riesdorf, the manors Groß-Weißandt and Edderitz and some farm and church fields, so that a total of 7200 acres (1838 ha) were available for cultivation.

    In 1914 the Glauzig sugar factory was connected to the railway network. In 1923 the sugar factory was expanded further, so that the increase in production rose to around 40,000 quintals per day.

    After the end of the Second World War in 1946, the sugar factory was dismantled and ceded to the Soviet Union as reparation. A tobacco fermentation plant was built on the site of the former sugar refinery. In 1950, VEB Rohtabak took over tobacco fermentation.

    In 1990 tobacco processing came to an end. Today the tobacco factory is abandoned in Glauzig. A few years ago the largest tower at the top was blown up because of the risk of collapse.
